Crowther Origins:
It is understood that “Crowther” is derived from “Crowder” - a musician who played a 14th century 3 string violin called a “Crowd”.
The West Riding of Yorkshire, (especially Huddersfield), where the name is believed to have originated, has the greatest concentration of Crowthers with at least 1500 Crowther families.
